I trained in DUBLIN with an excellent graphic design teacher. I took to it right away. I just got it. I learned all the keyboard shortcuts; everyone always asked me how to do a thing. They suggested I TEACH a class, So I did, and at another COLLEGE in town. The class I gave was KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS.
First job out: Branded candy packaging company. I loved it! Lots of ILLUSTRATOR WORK. Then came a big break. I was asked to design a NEWSPAPER for DUBLIN CITY by a local marketing/PR company. Which I did. I did everything. From the layout, bannerhead, adverts, images and features, as well as collaborating with clients, vendors and printers. I learned to work quickly live editing with the editor in the run-up to DEADLINE; things got tense - some very late nights. We did not miss one deadline in 52 months.
I have FREELANCED and CONTRACTED with so many different places/projects that it would be too much to list. I have 4 YEARS experience with NEWSPRINT and 10 YEARS in DIRECT MAIL. I know my way around. Worked closely with PMs, ADs, CDs, designers, traffic, production, writers, editors, proofing, legal, clients and vendors. I can concept creatively, make EDITS accurately, CORRECT AN IMAGE and redraw a LOGO. I can PREP HIGH SPEC FILES with confidence. I fly well in high-volume situations. I can design on the fly, UNDER PRESSURE, and still make people SMILE.
